A Swiss tourist couple has traveled to Afghanistan in their private car, entering the country through the Sher Khan Bandar crossing with the aim of exploring various regions.
The couple stated that they covered approximately 6,000 kilometers from Tajikistan to Afghanistan and plan to visit different parts of the country, taking advantage of the stable security situation.
Susanna, 83, and Karl, 76, who are visiting Afghanistan for the first time, expressed their happiness with their tour of Kunduz and the warm hospitality they received from local residents.
Susanna told TOLOnews: "We understood that the Taliban have control over the situation, and it's okay. because In the West, people are still afraid of Afghanistan the stay former ideals and hold when there was war. They're afraid to come. But I think if we can make advertisements for your country, more tourists will come."
Karl said: "We spoke with many friendly people who, despite not knowing our language, they helped us. We plan to visit Kabul, then Kandahar, and from there, Herat."
Several residents of Kunduz view the arrival of tourists and the growth of tourism as beneficial for boosting government revenue and strengthening the local economy.
Shamsullah Afghan, a resident of Kunduz, said: "The arrival of tourists to Afghanistan is beneficial. It increases government income and, in some cases, creates job opportunities for people."
Officials at the Kunduz Foreign Affairs Directorate have reported a rise in the number of foreign tourists, noting that significant facilities have been provided for them.
Obaidullah Abidi, Consular Affairs Officer at the Kunduz Foreign Affairs Directorate, said: "Security has been ensured across Afghanistan, which has led to an increase in foreign tourists. When they see the current situation compared to what they had heard, they find it fascinating. We have provided numerous facilities for tourists at the border and within the city of Kunduz."
According to statistics from the Kunduz Foreign Affairs Directorate, since the start of the current solar year, over 600 foreign tourists have entered the country through the Sher Khan port, which borders Tajikistan.
