Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Uzbekistan's special representative for Afghanistan and the Bangladeshi ambassador discussed the prospects of bilateral relations concerning Afghanistan and the international community's efforts to improve the situation in Afghanistan.
In the meeting, the Bangladeshi ambassador praised Uzbekistan’s efforts to establish long-term peace and stability and to build a unified regional stance on the Afghanistan issue.
Both parties expressed their interest in continuing bilateral discussions on Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan’s statement reads: "During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan-Bangladesh relations in the Afghan direction, as well as the efforts of the international community to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the country. M.Islam highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, as well as to establish long-term peace and stability in the country.”
The Islamic Emirate also expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s positive stance on Afghanistan, adding that the interim government views the realistic approach of regional countries on Afghan issues favorably and seeks good relations with all nations.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews: "We appreciate Uzbekistan and other countries that take a realistic position on Afghanistan in international forums and conferences and help foster Afghanistan's relations with other nations. We seek good relations with all countries."
Idris Muhammadi Zazi, a political analyst, commented on Uzbekistan's actions toward Afghanistan: "Uzbekistan wants to fulfill the responsibilities of a good neighbor under current circumstances. In various organizations, meetings, and gatherings, Uzbekistan speaks in favor of Afghanistan, projecting a positive image of Afghanistan to the world, both politically and economically."
In the eleventh summit of Turkic countries in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of establishing a consistent communication framework to address Afghanistan’s challenges, stating that Afghanistan should be a central focus for the Organization of Turkic States.
