First Snowfall in Kabul Brings Joy for Residents

Residents of the capital have welcomed the first snowfall of this year in Kabul, stating that snowfall and rain can help reduce diseases and prevent air pollution.

Additionally, snowfall and rain bring joy and happiness to children and are promising for farmers.

Elham, a Kabul resident, told TOLOnews: "We came here to have a snowball fight with our friends for a few minutes and pass the time."

Bahauddin, another Kabul resident, said about the snowfall: "I’m a shopkeeper here, and I was in my shop when children came to take pictures. Today is a snowy and fortunate day."

This is while poverty and hardship cast a shadow over the happiness of many citizens, turning the snowfall into a challenge for some.

Abdul Ghafar, one of the capital's residents, spoke about people's struggles: "Snow and rain are blessings from God, and we’re happy it’s snowing in our country. But there’s unemployment. I went to buy goods, but I couldn’t afford them."

Islamic Emirate forces have also expressed satisfaction with the snowfall and assured citizens of their safety.

Sherwali, a security officer, said: "We assure our fellow citizens that the Mujahideen are at their service under all circumstances."

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority reported yesterday that snowfall and rain have caused flooding in 33 provinces of the country.

Many provinces have also taken on a new appearance with the whiteness of snow.

Abdul Wali, a resident of Bamyan, said: "This snowfall brings the promise of a lush and prosperous spring for our people."

Farhad, a resident of Paktia, said: "Snow is a blessing from God and is very beneficial for the land and replenishing groundwater levels."

Environmental experts also regard snowfall and rain as valuable in combating drought and water shortages in the country.
