Snowfall and storms have led to the closure of the Salang Highway and several other routes in various provinces of the country.
Some routes, including those in Ghor, Sar-e-Pul, Herat, and Bamyan, have been temporarily blocked due to heavy snowfall.
The Ministry of Public Works has announced that technical teams are working to reopen the closed roads as soon as possible.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinas, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, said:
"In some provinces like Daikundi, Ghor, Bamyan, Badakhshan, Takhar, and Herat, snowfall continues. Some routes in Ghor, Bamyan, and Herat provinces are temporarily closed to traffic. Provincial staff of the Ministry of Public Works are working to clear these routes and reopen them for transportation."
Meanwhile, some citizens have called for fundamental solutions to prevent road closures during snow and rain.
"Our request to the authorities of the Islamic Emirate is to make efforts to reopen the closed roads. People have patients and are facing numerous problems," said Habibullah, a resident of Faryab.
"Heavy snowfall has blocked the roads here. The routes connecting Maidan Wardak districts to Ghazni are also closed, and no one is addressing the situation," said Hekmatullah, a resident of Maidan Wardak.
This comes as last night, the National Disaster Management Authority warned of possible heavy rainfall, snowfall, and sudden floods in 29 provinces, including Kabul.
