Foreign Ministry: Pakistan's Representative's Remarks at UN ‘Baseless’

The Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the recent statements of Munir Akram, Pakistan’s permanent representative at the United Nations, baseless, stating that no threat is posed to other countries from Afghan soil.

Zia Ahmad Takal, the head of public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that insecurity in Afghanistan is being organized from Pakistan and that the perpetrators of recent incidents have entered the country from across the Durand Line.

The head of public relations added: “We assure the international community that safe havens for Daesh or other groups in Afghanistan have been completely destroyed since the Islamic Emirate took power, and in practice, no threat has been posed to any country from Afghan soil. If any security incident occurs in Afghanistan, its perpetrators have crossed the Durand Line.”

Takal further added that some countries are attempting to portray Afghanistan as unstable in order to create an atmosphere of distrust between Afghanistan and the world.

Zia Ahmad Takal stated: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate calls on the international community to recognize that some countries, instead of working on political, security, and economic stability through reforms in their domestic policies, are trying to depict Afghanistan as unstable through false propaganda and divert attention from their internal problems.”

Pakistan’s representative, Munir Akram, in the latest UN Security Council meeting, claimed that Afghanistan has become a hub for recruiting Daesh Khorasan fighters.

Meanwhile, some political analysts believe that Daesh is currently operating from Pakistan against Afghanistan and other countries.

“Nothing in politics happens by chance. Pakistan’s representative at the UN Security Council made a claim, and the next day an explosion occurred. As we all know, and as the whole world knows, Pakistan is one of the supporters of Daesh Khorasan in Afghanistan and the region,” said Saleem Paigir, political analyst.

“In Pakistan’s security policy, the use of terrorist groups against its neighbors has always been one of its fundamental strategies. Unfortunately, the Pakistani military and civilian governments have been the creators and supporters of terrorist groups,” said Wais Naseri, another political analyst.

These statements come as the UN Security Council held a meeting on Monday night (February 10) regarding Daesh’s activities in the region.
