The Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev has continued his diplomatic efforts regarding Afghanistan by meeting with Christopher Duggan, ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, and Aurélia Bouchez, French ambassador to the country.
During these meetings, they discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, humanitarian cooperation, improving social and economic conditions, and strengthening regional security.
The French ambassador to Uzbekistan praised the country’s efforts in providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and improving its social and economic situation.
A statement from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “During the meeting, the parties comprehensively discussed the current state of Uzbek-Canadian cooperation in the Afghan direction, as well as issues of ensuring regional security. They expressed hope for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation and continuation of a constructive dialogue on the Afghan track.”
"Uzbekistan’s efforts focus on Afghanistan’s security, stability, and economic growth, in connection with both Uzbekistan and the region. Uzbekistan seeks a stable Afghanistan that operates under international laws and gains international recognition," said Wais Naseri, a political analyst.
"Uzbekistan maintains good relations with both the Taliban and the West; it aims to leverage this opportunity to its advantage. In my opinion, there is a general regional consensus that stability must prevail in Afghanistan," said Wahid Faqiri, an international relations analyst.
Yesterday, Ismatulla Irgashev also met with the US ambassador to Uzbekistan, emphasizing the shared interest of both countries in maintaining regular dialogue on resolving Afghanistan’s issues and highlighting the importance of international collective efforts to improve the situation in Afghanistan.
