The Pakistani government has once again claimed that terrorist groups are present on Afghan soil and has called on the Islamic Emirate to take serious and practical actions against these groups.
Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson for Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Afghanistan’s interim government must take steps to eliminate the infrastructure and activities of these groups in accordance with its international commitments.
"Indeed, terrorist threats against Pakistan from terrorist entities including TTP, BLA, and ISKP is our foremost concern. We continue to impress upon interim authorities to take visible and verifiable action against them, keeping in view their commitments given to the international community to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and groups from the Afghan soil,” said Shafqat Ali Khan.
“Pakistan has historically had plans to destabilize the region and now seeks to draw global attention by highlighting these threats. However, this situation could backfire on them,” Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.
Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have escalated in recent months, becoming a major issue for regional countries, including Russia.
Previously, the Russian ambassador to Pakistan announced that Moscow is ready to mediate in resolving the disputes between Kabul and Islamabad through the Moscow Format talks if both countries agree.
“Russia has good relations with both the Islamic Emirate and Pakistan, and if both sides agree, Moscow can be an effective mediator between them,” stated Salim Paigir, a political analyst.
In response to these accusations, the Islamic Emirate has consistently dismissed Pakistan's claims as baseless and has emphasized that ensuring Pakistan’s security is not Afghanistan’s responsibility.
“Insecurity in Pakistan is not a new issue. This problem has persisted since 2003. Pakistan's Baloch people have been in conflict with their government for years,” stated Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate.
Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have continued for years, and a sustainable solution has yet to be found. These disputes have at times even led to Pakistani military attacks on Afghan territory.
