The construction of the East Kabul passenger terminal for small buses and automobiles, estimated to cost over 162 million afghani, has officially begun. The project is being funded by the private sector in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport said that the terminal will be built on a plot of land measuring over 7 jeribs (approximately 1.4 hectares).
Sediqullah Abid, deputy minister for finance and administration at the ministry, emphasized that in addition to implementing projects funded through domestic revenue, the ministry also launched several projects budgeted at 3.5 billion afghani last year in partnership with the private sector.
“According to the decree of the Honorable Amir al-Mu’minin, may Allah protect him, and his special attention and generosity, nearly 22,000 jeribs of land across all provinces have been allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for the construction of transport terminals, parks, and complexes,” Sediqullah Abid said.
Noorul Haq Anwar, director of the Administrative Office of the Islamic Emirate, said: “In past decades, not only was no work done in Afghanistan, but there was also destruction. Many issues are being raised now, but the focus is on prioritization. Efforts are ongoing based on a system of prioritizing needs to address these challenges.”
According to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, 22,000 jeribs of land have been allocated by decree of the Islamic Emirate’s leader for the construction of terminals and to facilitate transportation services for citizens.
The contractor of the East Kabul terminal stated that the project will be completed within 18 months at a total cost exceeding 162 million afghani.
Shahdullah Hand, representative of the contracting company, said: “The East Kabul Passenger Terminal will be built on 7.3 jeribs of land within 18 months, at a cost of 162,788,645 afghani, with high-quality construction.”
Kabul Governor Aminullah Obaid stated: “The Kabul provincial administration is committed to fully supporting the implementation of any projects within the province.”
According to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, once the East Kabul Terminal is completed, it will resolve major transportation challenges for residents of Kabul, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Laghman provinces.
