The Ministry of Justice announced the formation of a new government body titled the Ministry of Land and Recovery of Usurped Property.
According to officials, until the ministry officially begins operations, the existing Commission for the Prevention and Recovery of Usurped Land will continue its duties.
Ehsanullah Wasiq, director general of legal affairs of the Islamic Emirate at the Ministry of Justice, stated: “The Commission for the Prevention and Recovery of Usurped Land has now been transformed into the Ministry of Land and Recovery of Usurped Property. This commission’s work will not cease until the new ministry is officially established. Until then, the commission will continue its operations seriously and without interruption.”
Wasiq also revealed that since the commission’s inception, more than 49.76 million acres of land have been identified across the country, and over 3.93 million acres have been successfully recovered from usurpers.
He added: “From the start of the commission's activity until now, 49,763,721.27 acres of land have been identified and registered, and of that, 3,930,933.584 acres have been reclaimed from usurpers.”
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ismail Ghaznawi, deputy minister for border affairs in the Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes, said that the creation of this commission enabled the implementation of large national projects such as TAPI, Qosh Tepa Canal, and CASA-1000.
He explained: “Across the country, major projects like the Qosh Tepa Canal, CASA-1000, and TAPI would not have progressed if the land commission had not been active and had failed to reclaim land from usurpers.”
According to the Ministry of Justice, more than 12.77 million acres of land have so far been allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock for national benefit.
