Abdul Latif Mansoor, acting minister of energy and water, has traveled to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to participate in the 5th Uzbekistan International Energy Conference.
Mansoor is expected to speak at the conference about cooperation in the energy sector, modern technologies, and the challenges currently facing the field.
The conference is being held in Tashkent from May 13 to 15 this year, with the participation of representatives from Central Asian countries.
Matiullah Abid, spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Water, said: "Mr. Mansoor will discuss cooperation and challenges in the field of renewable energy and modern technology at this conference."
Meanwhile, some economic experts stress that the delegation of the Islamic Emirate must use this opportunity to attract foreign investment in Afghanistan’s energy sector.
Mir Shakir Yaqubi, an economic affairs analyst, stated: "If we are able to attract foreign cooperation or investments in energy production during this visit, it will be considered a successful trip and could significantly strengthen both the economy and energy output. However, if we fail to attract suitable investment for Afghanistan, this trip will be as unproductive as the previous ones."
Qutbuddin Yaqubi, another economic expert, added: "Uzbekistan, as a neighboring country with a strong position in energy and power infrastructure, can currently play a significant and effective role in Afghanistan through the exchange of expertise and available resources."
The conference is being held with the participation of energy ministers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and other regional countries, along with representatives from international organizations including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World Bank.
