Following Israel’s Friday attacks on positions inside Iranian territory, tensions between the two sides have escalated.
In response, Iran launched a wide-scale missile strike on Israeli targets Friday evening.
Hosseini, an Iranian citizen, said: “I feel we are demonstrating our strength and capability to the world, especially to the United States and Israel.”
Elghani, another Iranian citizen, said: “I am very pleased that Iran is striking Israel. They must act so that we can see the results—so the drought and starvation in Gaza can end.”
In this operation, Iran used dozens of ballistic missiles and suicide drones to target various locations, including a nuclear research center near central Israel, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
The attacks also caused widespread destruction across multiple locations in Israel.
Amir Ben-David, commander of Israel’s Home Front Command, stated: "We arrived at the scene and saw the wide damage with a significant number of wounded, with dead inside the scene. We began to carry out operations to scan and evacuate the trapped together with the emergency organizations MDA and the fire department and the Israel police and together with the local authority.”
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Saturday (June 14), several areas in Iran— including Hamedan, East Azerbaijan, Khorramabad, and others—were targeted by Israeli airstrikes.
Local sources reported explosions at a military fighter jet hangar at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airbase.
According to Reuters, Israel’s attacks on Iranian soil have so far killed at least 78 people, including Gholamreza Mehrabi and Mehdi Rabani—two senior commanders of Iran’s armed forces—and three nuclear scientists. Over 320 others have been wounded.
The UN secretary-general, reacting to the developments, called for an immediate halt to the attacks.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan also condemned Israel’s strikes on Iran and urged all parties to fulfill their responsibility in preserving regional stability.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said: “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly condemns Israel’s recent attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the assassination of its military commanders and nuclear scientists—actions that constitute a clear violation of fundamental principles of international law, particularly the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. These aggressions occur while the oppressed people of Palestine, especially in Gaza, continue to suffer under relentless and catastrophic Israeli assaults, as the occupying regime persists in this violence with total disregard for humanitarian and international norms.”
At the same time, the president of Venezuela also expressed solidarity with Iran, describing Israel’s actions as a violation of international law.
Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, said: "We express our absolute repudiation, our categorical rejection of this criminal attack that violates international law, the United Nations Charter and violates the multilateral structure of the United Nations Organization and threatens this region of Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, with an escalation that we do not know where it may lead."
Meanwhile, although the sixth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States was scheduled to be held in Oman on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Tehran has not yet made a final decision regarding the continuation of talks, and following Israel’s attacks, negotiations with the US have become meaningless.
