At least 18 insurgents were killed in ongoing Afghan security forces operations in central Uruzgan province, local officials said on Monday.

In addition, 25 other insurgents were injured.

The operation was launched two days ago to clear the area of insurgents, Provincial Police Chief Wali Jan Sarhadi said.

However, he did not provided more details about the operation nor about casualties among the security forces.
