At least 48 Taliban were killed in ongoing operations by Afghan forces along with Resolute Support’s air support in southern Kandahar province, security officials said on Monday.
The operation was launched in Shah Wali Kot district of the province on December 26 and is ongoing, officials said.
In the meantime, Resolute Support confirmed this news and said that “17 roadside bombs were defused, and 80 pounds of homemade explosives were destroyed".
However, officials did not provide further details about the operation.
Meanwhile, security officials in Faryab said that at least 97 Taliban insurgents were killed during Afghan security force operations in the province.
Taliban have not commented on the claims.
