Abdullah: IEC's Results Will 'Not Be Acceptable'

Following the Independent Election Commission’s statement that they may announce election results, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah warned that his team will not accept the result if the commission does not address their "legal demands."

The leader of the Stability and Convergence electoral team wrote on Facebook that his team and other electoral teams will "not be indifferent" towards the issue.

“If the [Independent] Election Commission announces preliminary results without addressing the electoral teams’ legal demands, the results will not be acceptable for us and we will not be indifferent towards this,” Abdullah wrote on his Facebook page.

The IEC said on Tuesday that it is considering making an announcement about election results.

The results were delayed three times due to rifts over roughly 300,000 disputed votes.

Afghanistan’s presidential election was held on September 28.
