Crash Landing of ANDSF Chopper Due to ‘Technical Issues’: MoD

An Afghan army Black Hawk helicopter has crashed in southern Helmand province on Monday morning due to 'technical issues,' the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.

The incident happened about 8:40 am local time in Kajaki district while the helicopter was landing, the statement said, adding that “five crew members were wounded slightly.”

Investigations are still ongoing over the incident, the statment said.

Before this, Omar Zwak, a spokesman for the provincial governor said that the helicopter had made an emergency landing in Kajaki, adding that “The reason for the emergency is not yet clear.”

But a security source said the helicopter was targeted by the Taliban while flying over Kajaki and “was carrying wounded army soldiers.”

However, the Taliban have not commented on the incident.
