Afghan Family Loses Two Sons in Attack on VP Saleh

Grieving families of the victims of a blast that targeted the convoy of First Vice President Amrullah Saleh on Wednesday morning in the Taimani area of Kabul city asked how the government can allow an attack like this in such a central place.

The Afghan government has said that at least 10 people were killed in the blast and that all were civilians.

Among those killed were two brothers, named Ali Dad and Rahm Ali, who left young widows and children behind. Ali Dad and Rahm Ali were both working at a nearby shop.

Ali Dad was 25 years old and left two children behind.

“I am uneducated, I don’t have a job, I don’t understand how to be a breadwinner, he was our breadwinner,” said Shamshad, the widow of Rahm Ali.

“The government, the Ministry of Defense and the National Directorate of Security should protect the public. If they are not able to maintain the security of the people, then they should step down,” said Imam Ali Mohebi, a resident of Kabul.

The victims’ father is a disabled elderly man who also relied on the earnings of his sons.

“We buried him (Rahm Ali) in the evening, then the dead body of my second son was brought from the mosque,” said Khuda Dad, the father of the victims.

Many of those killed in the blast were young.

The Afghan Ministry of Interior said that 10 were killed and 40 wounded were wounded, but other security sources said the number of those killed in the blast was more than 20 people.
