Afghan Female Researcher Wins Gold Medal in Malaysia

Sweeta Akbari, an Afghan woman, won a gold medal in the "Citrix" research competition in Malaysia.

Akbari, a doctoral student at Yang University in Malaysia, has investigated the effects of herbicides on cardiovascular systems and their relationship to cardiovascular diseases, and 

 the reduction of heavy metals concentration in contaminated water.

The Citrix competition is held annually in Malaysia.

Akbari has won seven medals - one gold and six silvers - at this competition.

At least 400 researchers have participated in this year’s competition.
