Commission on Media Violations to Resume Tuesday: MoIC

The Commission on Media Violation (CMV) will resume operations on Tuesday, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) said.

The press director of MoIC said that the commission would be continuing its activities based on mass media law.

“There have been simple changes in this (mass media law) recently. It is going to go into effect again and it will be printed soon and we will give it to the media,” said Abdul Haq Humad, head of the MoIC.

Meanwhile, journalists said that due to lack of a proper framework, they are facing a lot of challenges in their work.

“The CMV has been deactivated for a year and we call on the Islamic Emirate to reactivate the commission as soon as possible to address the problems of the journalists,” said a journalist.

Meanwhile, the Union of Afghanistan’s Freelance Journalists said that the CMV would be working to address the problems of the journalists.

“I hope this commission starts working as soon as possible to enable the journalists to work in peace and with a calm mind knowing that a legal department exists to address their problems and violations of the law,” said Hujatullah Mujadidi, head of the Union of Afghanistan’s Freelance Journalists.

Based on the report of UNAMA, more than 170 cases of violence against media and journalists have been registered in Afghanistan.
