At least one policeman was killed and two others were wounded in a blast in the northern province of Balkh on Monday night, local officials said on Tuesday.

The incident happened around 8:30 pm (local time) in PD8 in Mazar-e-Sharif. The detonated explosive was placed in a bicycle, said Adilshah Adil, a spokesman for the provincial police chief.

Adil said he believes the explosive was placed by the Taliban, but the group has not yet confirmed the blast.
