Maiwand Zurmati, 32, a civil engineer working the in the Japanese embassy in Kabul, was traveling with his two brothers Osman and Ghrozang when armed men stopped the cars in PD5 on a road leading to the Inter-Continental Hotel and shot him in the face and chest after he tried to resist.
“We were traveling on a road near the intercontinental hotel when suddenly four or five people appeared in front of the car and fired,” said Ghrozang.
Maiwand’s elder brother Osman Zurmati, a doctor, was wounded in the attack by the armed men.
“The armed men appeared in front of their car when Maiwand tried to resist, the armed men fired with a pistol and Maiwand was then killed. They fired at his mouth and chest and his brother Osman wounded in the attack,” said Kabool Khan Tadbir, a relative of Maiwand.
Maiwand’s family has said that they had no enmity with anyone. They called on Kabul to arrest perpetrators.
“We request the security organs to arrest the perpetrators and serve justice,” said Mohammad Naeem Noori, a relative of Maiwand.
The Interior Ministry has said that they can't determine the motives behind the murder until the time they arrest the attackers.
