Helicopter Crash Due To Tail Rotor Failure

Officials said Sunday that last week’s helicopter crash that claimed the life of top army commander General Muhayuddin Ghori was due to tail rotor failure.

According to video footage received by TOLOnews, the helicopter crashed as it came in to land at a Badghis army base. The tail rotor stalled, sending the helicopter into a tail spin.

Prior to the rotor stalling, the helicopter did not show any visible signs of technical problems. Only when it was about 20 meters above ground did the rotor stall.

Ghori, who was killed in the crash, had been the commander of 207 Zafar Army Corp. At least 11 people, including the crew and high-ranking officials, were in the helicopter at the time of the crash.
