IEC Announces Final Results Of Kabul Parliamentary Elections

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the final results of Kabul parliamentary elections four months after it announced the preliminary results which were later rejected by observers.

There are 24 male and 9 female candidates among the front runners who have secured their seats in the parliament. 

The preliminary results of the Kabul parliamentary elections were announced in mid-January by the former leadership of the IEC who were later removed following a decree by President Ghani in order to ensure more transparency in upcoming presidential elections. 

The new list seems slightly different compared with the preliminary list released by the IEC in January. 

According to the final results, the following candidates have succeeded to win a seat in the Afghan parliament, the Wolesi Jirga.

•    Abdul Qayum Khairkhwah 
•    Khan Agha Rezaee
•    Mullah Mohammad Khan Ahmadi 
•    Fida Mohammad Ulfat Saleh
•    Ahmad Jawed Jaihoon
•    Mir Amanullah Guzar
•    Amirgul Shaheen
•    Ghulam Husain Naseri
•    Ramazan Bashardost
•    Sayed Mohammad Mohammadi
•    Allah Gul Mujahid 
•    Khan Mohammad Wardak
•    Qazi Mir Afghan Safi 
•    Najibullah Nasir
•    Habiburrahman Sayyaf
•    Anwar Khan Oryakhail
