Officials from the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said that they had finished assessing the 2,643 biometric devices that were isolated because of suspicion of fraud.
The IEC said that voters’ data from these devices was transferred to the commission’s data center.
With the completion of data transfer from these devices, the amount of votes in the data center is estimated to be 1.9 million votes.
Meanwhile, IEC commissioner Rahima Zarifi said that with the completion of the data entry process, the next process of separating fake and valid votes could begin.
“Of course, when there is progress on the work, there is a change in the numbers,” said Zarifi.
But campaign teams are skeptical:
“All data from 2,643 devices has been transferred, but there were some issues in the process, because some devices had serious problems,” said Mohammad Younus Nawandesh, an observer of Stability and Convergence Team.
