Security officials in Sar-e-Pul have arrested a Taliban member responsible for teaching insurgents how to carry out suicide attacks, local officials said on Monday.
The insurgent, Ahmad Khorshid, was arrested after a clash broke out between security forces and the Taliban in Gozar village of Sancharak district on Sunday night.
According to a spokesman for the provincial police chief, Zabihullah Amani, the “head trainer for Taliban suicide bombers” was arrested following the clash.
“One Taliban was killed and four others were wounded in the clash,” Amani said adding that “the clashes continued for nearly three hours but there were no security force casualties.”
However, he did not provide further details.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the clash or the arrest.
