Kabul Attack Death Toll Climbs To Nine

The death toll from Taliban attack on an international aid organization in Kabul rised to nine, including three civilians, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Thursday.

In addition, 20 other people were wounded in the attack.

The attack on which continued for six hours was labelled a crime against civilians as it was condemned by the government, the United Nations and the US Embassy in Afghanistan.  

The attack was started at 11:40am after a car bomb close to the aid organization opened the way for other attackers into the building.

According to the Interior Affairs Ministry, the attack ended at around 5:30pm after two attackers were killed by security forces.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Ministry of Interior Affairs, said that more than 170 employees of the International Counterpart were rescued by security forces during their operation.  

The Counterpart International which came under attack by the Taliban operates in Afghanistan since 2005. 

Taliban claimed responsibly for the attack.
