Kabul's Shakardara District 'Cleared of Insurgents'

At least five Taliban were killed and two others--including a Taliban leader--were wounded during a joint security forces operation in Kabul, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Monday.

The operation was launched in Shakardara district and 25 insurgents, including three group leaders, were arrested. The Taliban “were causing fear in the district," the statement said, adding that “the forces will remain in the district for security.”

“The forces also seized weapons during the operation,” it added.

However, the statement did not give details about security force casualties.
