Kazakhstan Offers To Host Meeting on Afghanistan

Kazakhstan has invited the permanent representatives of members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to gather in Nur-Sultan in fall for a special event for solving the problems in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov said as quoted in a report by New Europe on Tuesday. 

Quoted by New Europe, Atamkulov during the OSCE’s Ministerial Meeting on 8-9 July in Slovakia said that his country will host a special event in which OSCE’s permanent representatives will come together to talk about how to resolve problems in Afghanistan. 

Kazakh Foreign Ministry also has said that OSCE’s permanent representatives of states will met in Nur-Sultan to address challenges in Afghanistan. 

“The Kazakh side proposed to hold … an event on Afghanistan in conjunction with the visit of the permanent representatives of states of the OSCE to Kazakhstan,” the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

Kazakh Foreign Ministry has said that the meeting will increase involvement of the OSCE in resolving the problems and post-conflict rehabilitation in Afghanistan. 

OSCE is the world’s largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization which its mandate incudes issues such as arm control, promotion of human rights, freedom of the press and fair elections.
