Police Search for Man Who Killed Wife, Sister-in-Law

A man killed his wife and sister-in-law in PD6 of Kabul city and the family of the victims has called on the Afghan security forces to arrest the killer and serve him justice.

The two women were wives of two brothers. They were both married a year ago.

“I spoke to both of my daughters yesterday,” said Abdul Khaliq, the father of the victims.

“The victims were killed in a very brutal and tragic way--we call on the legal and judicial institutions to investigate the case seriously,’ said Abdul Hamid, the cousin of the victims.

“Our demand is that this incident be investigated seriously. Sharia law has determined the fate of those who kill someone,” said Naseer Ahmad Sadat, a relative of the victim.

The Interior Ministry said that an investigation has been launched.

“Yesterday (Sunday) a man killed his wife and sister-in-law...in PD6 of Kabul city. Police are searching for him and he will be arrested soon,” said Marwa Amini, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior.

While the motives behind the murders remain unclear, reports indicate that family violence has increased significantly during the lockdown around the world.
