MPs Criticize Mohaqiq For Praising Fatimiyun Fighters

The second deputy head of the CEO Mohammad Mohaqiq on Saturday came under harsh criticism after he praised and thanked the Fatimiyun fighters, including Afghans, for their victory in the Syrian war.

Mohaqiq was in Iran for the Ninth Meeting Of Islamic Awakening Supreme Council when he made the speech.

He also commended Major Gen. Qasem Soleimani, commander of foreign operations for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, and one of the founders of Fatimiyun Brigade in Syria.

“I thank all the warriors who cooperated in these wars either from Iraq and Syria fighters, the Iraq and Syria army and the fighters of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world who were part of the wars. In fact, it was the war of Islam against infidelity and against the conspiracies of the world’s arrogance,” said Mohaqiq.

This comes after the Afghan government officially stated recently that Iran was in the wrong to send Afghan refugees to fight in Syria and Iraq.

MPs said Mohaqiq’s remarks were dangerous and that this portrayed support for Iran’s proxy war in Syria and Iraq.

“This issue is very dangerous for Afghanistan. We see the result of Afghan fighters’ presence in Syria and Iraq war in Kabul. The attacks that Daesh carry out on our mosques are the result of this move,” said the deputy head of parliament’s internal security commission Abdul Hai Akhondzada said.

“The worst thing is that one of the high-ranking officials praises the fighters who went from Afghanistan,” MP Kamal Nasir Osuli said.

Despite repeated efforts to get comment from government, TOLOnews was unable to do so.

Former deputy spokesman of chief executive officer Asif Ashna meanwhile said Mohaqiq’s remarks paves the way for expanding war and increasing Daesh attacks in Afghanistan.

“Taking biased and political stances by pollical leaders and government officials can provide the context for sectarian threats in Afghanistan,” said Ashna.

Mohaqiq has said the conspiracy by the world in the last 40 years has kept Afghanistan insecure and if Daesh is not stopped, Afghanistan will become a Daesh stronghold.
