Nine Insurgents Killed In Afghan Airstrikes

At least nine insurgents including their local commander were killed during Afghan air strikes in parts of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defense said Sunday. 

The Ministry said that in recent airstrikes on insurgent hideouts in Uruzgan province at least four insurgents were killed. 

The strike was conducted on insurgent hideouts in an area on the outskirts of Trinkot city, the provincial capital. The ministry said a weapons cache was also destroyed. 

According to the ministry, five insurgents were killed, including a Taliban commander, known as Mullah Mir Wali, in a separate airstrike in Durqad district of Takhar province.

In addition, three others were wounded, among them Qari Sefat and Mawolavi Aram. 

No more details were provided about the operations. 

Taliban has not yet commented.
