Paul Ryan Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday visited Afghan Special Operations Corps in Kabul, the corps said in a statement.
According to their statement Ryan together with a US delegation met with the commander of the corps and other officials.
They discussed security issues in particular security of the parliamentary election process in Afghanistan, the statement added.
According to the statement Ryan spoke about the achievements of the Afghan Special Forces and said that Washington will continue to support various sectors, in particular the suppression of terrorists in Afghanistan.
Ryan also met with Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani while in Kabul, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Thursday morning.
According to the statement, Ghani and Ryan discussed matters of mutual cooperation, regional issues, the South Asia Strategy on Afghanistan and the positive impact it is having on the country.
They also discussed security issues and preparations for next week's elections.
