A policeman shot and killed four of his colleagues in Zheray district in the southern province of Kandahar on Saturday night, Kandahar police officials said.

The incident happened at a checkpoint in Zheray district, the officials said.

The policeman has escaped from the area of the shooting and “joined the Taliban” according to officials.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
