Politicians Seek Agreement Between Abdullah, Ghani Camps

People close to former mujahideen leader Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf said Thursday that President Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah are close to resolving their political differences, but no official word has yet been released.

At Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's house on Thursday discussions were held among political figures and Abdullah Abdullah seeking to end the post-election tension between Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani.

“The two sides (Ghani's and Abdullah's) shared their views with the delegation. Several plans have been put forward, based on the principles of a comprehensive government and a government that includes basic agreements. Both sides of the post-election controversy were represented, and both sides are determined to end the tensions,” said Massoud Trishtwal, spokesman of the Council for Protection and Stability of Afghanistan

According to Trishtwal the amendment of the constitution and the leadership of the peace process by Abdullah Abdullah are the two main components of this agreement.

Trishtwal added that Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah have changed their positions and now they are determined to end the tension.

The Presidential Palace has not commented yet but Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the Hizb-i-Wahdat political party and a close ally to Abdullah Abdullah, who attended today's meeting at Hekmatyar's residence, wrote on his facebook page that "News will be forthcoming".
