Uruzgan Students Criticize Lack of Teachers

Six months have passed since the beginning of the school year in Uruzgan, and some female students in the early grades say they lack books and teachers, and if these problems are not solved their schools will be closed soon.

“Our first problem is that we do not have teachers, there are four teachers and it is not enough,” said Marwada, a sixth grade student.

“There is no teacher to teach us, we come in the morning and go back home without any lesson,” said Madina, a sixth grade student.

Some students say the lack of teachers is a big challenge in the education system.

Meanwhile, the acting minister of education said these problems will be addressed soon.

“We try hard to hire teachers, few days before across the country we hold exams for this position to hire teachers,” said Noorullah Munir, acting minister of education.

Previously the Ministry of Education officials announced that more than 250,000 books were to be distributed soon, but reportedly there has been no action.
