An Afghan doctor recently returned to Afghanistan from Turkey to treat 150 children with the condition of cleft lip or cleft palate in Kunduz  saying that he only treats those people who have economic issues.

“For treatment of 150 children with cleft lip and cleft palate, I am here in this camp in Kunduz,” said Ghafar Ghayor, a cosmetic surgery specialist.

People welcomed this free treatment by the doctor.

"We took our patients to a private hospital, and they told us the operation costs 50,000 (Afs),” said Masoom Jan, a relative of a patient.

“My son has a cleft lip and cannot talk perfectly, we have economic problems, for that reason we took our patient here,” said Noor Bibi, a relative of a patient.

In the last few months, poverty and unemployment have increased in our country, and for this reason people are not able to treat their families or themselves.
