A charity organization in the province of Farah has provided more than 500 destitute men and women the chance to get free vocational training.

"This program is for six months, which is implemented in three stages, for a total of 550 individuals, including men and women, to study a vocation,” said Baryalai Nusrat, head of the Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO).

One of the women who used this program to learn how to sew is Feriba, who is now instructing a number of young girls.

"So far, we have been able to provide employment opportunities for about 100 individuals; however, if the program is broadened, we can raise this number," said a tailor Feriba Sharifi.

Women enrolled in the program to learn tailoring said they were thankful and asked organizations to provide more tailoring workshops in Farah.

"We are 100% happy and satisfied that we got jobs here,” said Feriba, a trainee.

"We ask the institutions to provide us with more equipment so that we can improve,” said Shaima, a trainee.

Meanwhile, local officials in Farah province said that they will provide job opportunities for those who have received vocational training.

"The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has tried to facilitate the work environment with the cooperation of partner institutions so that these students can earn,” said Shir Mohammad Haqtalab, the head of Labor and Social Affairs of Farah.

Learning a vocation is thought to help families become more financially secure; however, due to a lack of employment opportunities, many women with vocations are left unemployed and forced to stay at home.
