Seventh Shipment of Turkish Aid Arrives in Herat

The seventh shipment of Turkish humanitarian aid, consisting of flour, rice, oil, and other foodstuffs as well as clothes, arrived at Towrgondi port in Herat province.

This shipment of 500 tons is intended to be delivered to needy people in some provinces.

“People who need more and are poor, after a transparency process will receive this aid,” said Abdul Basir Anakhil, head of the Turkish Humanitarian Aid Foundation office in Herat.

Meanwhile, the ambassador of Turkey in Herat assured the continuation of this country’s humanitarian aid.

“We have this opportunity today from Turkish people and transfer it to poor and needy people,” said Sinan Elikhan, Turkish Consul General in Herat.

Some needy people said that until now they have not received any humanitarian aid.

Farhad is a Farah resident and is the breadwinner of his seven-member family and told TOLOnews that his daily income is not more than 50 Afghani.

“We did not receive aid, not oil or rice, we received nothing,” said Farhad.

In the past year and a half, with the spread of the economic crisis in the country, most of the citizens have faced poverty and hunger.

Many countries helped Afghanistan with humanitarian shipments but most of the country’s citizens are faced with hunger.
