Herat Hosts Eid Market Exhibition of Domestic Products

An Eid market exhibition featuring domestic products has been organized in Herat to celebrate Eid al-Adha.

In this exhibition, locally produced bags and shoes are displayed for sale.

"We organized this exhibition to promote domestic products in the market and to allow people to recognize the quality of local products," said Abdul Wahab Amini, the organizer of the exhibition.

"The Islamic Emirate fully supports the domestic industry and strives to facilitate producers," said Hayatullah Mohajir Farahi, acting deputy governor of Herat.

Several local bag and shoe manufacturers said that the abundant imports from neighboring countries have hurt their businesses and taken away their competitive edge in the markets.

"The materials used in China, Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan are the same, but the difference is that this is made by an Afghan," said Abdul Malik Abdali, one of the stallholders.

"The product is 100% made in Afghanistan, from the sole to all parts of a shoe," said Mohammad Jawad Angoori, another stallholder.

Raising customs tariffs on imported shoes has been announced as part of the government's support program for domestic products.

"We strive to support industries in Afghanistan that are of high quality, such as the carpet and shoemaking industries," said Mohammad Younus Mohmand, the first deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

Dozens of small and large bag and shoe manufacturing factories are active in Herat, employing hundreds of people.

According to some shoe manufacturers in Herat, their products are also exported to neighboring countries due to their high quality.
