Kunar 200-Bed Hospital to Open Soon: Official

Noor Jalal Jalali, acting Minister of Public Health, announced during his visit to Kunar province that the remaining work on the 200-bed hospital in the province will be completed soon and it will be put into operation.

Jalali said that with the construction of the hospital, the health challenges of the residents of this area will be reduced.

Jalali added: "I met with Amir al-Mu'minin regarding this matter. He told me to send the proposals. The proposals have been written and sent. God willing, it is hoped that the order will be issued shortly, and this project will begin."

Officials of the Kunar provincial hospital also said that with the construction of this hospital, the health problems in this province will be significantly reduced.

"The infectious diseases ward, which is an essential need of the community, sometimes becomes a source of infection due to lack of space in our hospital. Additionally, our surgery and emergency rooms are located in one place, and both use the same room," said Muladad, the head of the Kunar provincial hospital.

"Sometimes in emergencies, due to lack of space, we face situations where there is no place for patients on the beds, and patients are even lying on the ground," said Ansarullah Hamid, the chief physician of the Kunar provincial hospital.

Residents of Kunar also emphasized that this mountainous province needs more attention to health issues because patients from Nooristan also come to this hospital for treatment.

"The current hospital is small, and many people visit it. Patients from Nooristan also come here. There are many problems, and it is not possible to address all of them," said Samiullah, a resident of Kunar.

"Considering the population, the staff and equipment of the Kunar provincial hospital are insufficient. People face many problems, and in emergencies, even patients from Nooristan are brought to the Kunar provincial hospital," said Tahzibullah Muhazib, another resident of Kunar.

According to the officials of the Kunar provincial hospital, the current structure of this hospital was built in 1354 (solar year) with a capacity of 10 beds, which over time, beds were activated in a non-standard manner, and currently, 150 beds are used.
