The construction of three school buildings has commenced in Faryab at a cost of nearly 46 million afghanis.
This development comes at a crucial time, as 155 schools in the province currently lack proper facilities, leaving over 82,000 students studying in open spaces.
The Directorate of Education announced the start of construction for these buildings, which will serve boys and girls in the districts of Daulatabad and Khwaja Sabz Posh.
These schools are being built in remote areas of the province to ensure balanced development and provide standard education.
Mohammad Tahir Jawad, the head of Faryab's education department, said: "The budget for all three schools is 46 million afghani. They will be built on 8,000 square meters of land, with each school having a different size. These schools can accommodate 1,500 students at a time. In two shifts, they have the capacity for 3,000 students."
Some residents of Faryab say that the construction of these schools will solve many students' problems, and they urge the Ministry of Education officials to make serious efforts to address the issues of other schools.
Noorulhaq, a resident of Daulatabad district in Faryab, said: "Officials should pay attention to this now. We have obtained land for the school. Now we need good, strong teachers who can properly educate the children."
Abdul Hamid, a resident of Khwaja Sabz Posh district in Faryab, said: "Nearly a thousand girls and boys studying here have only three teachers. This number of students cannot be properly taught with so few teachers. We need more teachers."
Some workers are happy about the employment opportunities created by this project, saying that previously they had to go abroad to find work.
A worker, Faizullah, said: "We used to go to Iran, Turkey, and other places. Many boys were shot and killed at the borders. Now that schools are being built here, perhaps 100-200 workers can find work."
Another worker, Mohammad Ibrahim, also said: "We are very happy with such projects. It brings development, and we used to wander around a lot going to Iran and Pakistan. If there is work here, there is no need to go elsewhere."
According to local officials in Faryab, this is the fifth school whose construction has begun in the past two weeks in Faryab.
