The construction of a carpet weaving center, funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at a cost of $226,000, has begun in Aqcha district, Jawzjan province.
The deputy minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Abdul Rahman Rashid, said at the opening ceremony of this center that upon completion of the project, job opportunities will be created for 500 people, including refugees who have returned from neighboring countries.
The Deputy Minister added, "This project will provide employment opportunities for around 500 people, and work opportunities will also be available for refugees who have been forcibly deported from host countries."
Rashid emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is trying to implement other similar projects to improve the economic situation of the people, in addition to major projects like TAPI and the Qosh Tepa Canal.
Gul Haidar Shafaq, the governor of Jawzjan, said: "The government is striving to create job opportunities for its noble people and to develop the country. Thank God, these efforts are ongoing."
Khirullah Haqqani, the head of the Jawzjan Ulema Council, said: "The Islamic Emirate is focused on improving the economy of its compatriots and urges traders to pay sincere attention to the people's economy."
Some Afghans who have returned from neighboring countries are calling for more projects and the creation of job opportunities.
Naqibullah, one of the returnees, said: "I am disabled and have a stall, but under these conditions, I cannot make ends meet. We are happy that the Islamic Emirate is undertaking such projects so that we can get busy with work and improve our lives."
Shah Mohammad, another returnee, added: "Help our people because they have become very poor and need more assistance, like the carpet project that is being built, and other projects that are underway will be very beneficial."
According to the Jawzjan Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation, efforts to implement more development projects and create job opportunities for Afghans who have returned from neighboring countries in recent months are ongoing.
