Residents of Dishu District in Helmand told TOLOnews that they have been forgotten by the government for decades and are deprived of all basic living services.
They called on the authorities to implement development projects in various areas of Disho District.
The residents of Disho District lack access to clean drinking water, health services, and education.
Sayed Wali, a resident of Dishu District, told TOLOnews: "There are only a few shops here, and they sell goods to us at double the price. They bring these goods from Lashkargah and sell them to us at a high price."
Another resident, Wali Mohammad, said: "If a market is built, it will provide us with more facilities. Also, if a bridge is built, it would be better; because with a bridge, there can be a market. Otherwise, how would goods reach us?"
Dishu District is located 250 kilometers west of Lashkargah and has witnessed intense fighting over the past two decades.
Local officials in Helmand province have said they plan to implement reconstruction projects with the help of relief organizations in Dishu District during the current solar year.
Mohammad Qasim Riazthe, spokesperson for the Helmand governor, told TOLOnews: "Whatever was within the capability of the provincial authorities has been done, and, God willing, further work will continue in the future. Issues that fall under higher authorities will also be addressed, and, God willing, the problems of districts like Dishu and Khanshin will be resolved."
Previously, local officials, with the help of relief organizations, implemented several health, education, and clean drinking water access projects in Lashkar Gah and several other districts of Helmand province to solve the people's problems.
