The construction of the gate and administrative building of Wakhan National Park, completed at a cost of two million Afghanis, was inaugurated by local officials.
The Badakhshan Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock stated that this building was constructed to provide facilities for tourists, preserve wildlife, and promote tourism attractions.
Amanullah Hasan, the head of the Badakhshan Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, said, "The gate and administrative building of Wakhan National Park were built with the developmental budget of the Ministry of Agriculture at a cost of two million Afghanis, and today we are witnessing its inauguration."
Faiz Rahman Ebrahimi, the head of Badakhshan Environmental Protection, said, "No hunting permits will be issued. We request the district chief, the commander, and the local residents to identify those who engage in hunting."
Zabihullah Amiri, the head of Badakhshan's Information and Culture Directorate, stated, "Wakhan is the crown jewel of Badakhshan Province, and this is a great asset for all the people of Afghanistan; it must be preserved."
However, the residents of Badakhshan are urging the interim government officials to pay more attention to attracting domestic and foreign tourists to this national park.
Saifullah, a resident of Badakhshan, said, "Our request from the Islamic Emirate is to facilitate opportunities for domestic and foreign tourists to visit this park."
Sadruddin, another resident of Badakhshan, said, "Every tourist who comes to Badakhshan contributes to the growth of the economy."
After Band-e Amir, Wakhan is the second national park in the country, designated as such in 2014 by the previous government. This national park covers an area of approximately 2 kilometers and boasts beautiful landscapes, natural attractions, and rare wildlife.
