Local officials in Ghazni province say that 58 development projects are being implemented this solar year at a cost of 450 million afghanis in the province.
According to them, 30 of these projects are funded by the Ghazni Municipality, while the rest are being implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Mohammad Nabi Hamza, the mayor of Ghazni, stated: "This project, funded by UNOPS, has a budget of 7 to 7.5 million Afghanis, and an additional 240 million afghani are being financed from the municipality's budget."
Some individuals employed through these projects have said they have been able to cover the living expenses of their families.
They have called on officials and aid organizations to assist in creating permanent job opportunities
Mohammad Hashim, one of the workers, said: "The situation of some people is very bad, but through these projects, they earn a livelihood. We would be happy if more projects were implemented here."
Fida Mohammad, a resident of Ghazni, said: "If more work and business opportunities are created by companies and organizations here, people will be happier. This is a significant help from the government to the people."
Obaidullah, another worker, expressed: "We are happy because people are earning lawful income for their families through this work."
Local officials also announced that the survey for Ghazni city's detailed plan has been completed, and practical work to achieve urban order and beautify the city will begin soon.
