A charitable organization has launched a free eye treatment campaign in Kunar province.
According to officials, 250 eye patients who cannot afford treatment in private hospitals will receive free surgeries and medical care as part of this initiative.
Shakerullah Ameen, the head of the charity organization, stated: "We have a program for 250 fellow citizens, and its implementation has already begun. All necessary examinations and medications for those requiring surgery will be provided free of charge."
Muzaffar Khan Mukhlis, the head of public health in Kunar, also emphasized: "For those who want to serve this community and its people, our responsibility in public health is to facilitate their efforts, and we have done so."
Several patients have called on officials and charitable organizations to continue the free treatment program in Kunar province.
Abdul Rahman, a resident of Marawara district in Kunar, has been struggling with an eye disease for years but has been unable to afford treatment due to financial difficulties.
His vision problems have made daily life challenging, and he has now traveled to Asadabad, the capital of Kunar, for free treatment.
"There is a kind of veil over my eyes; it has improved slightly, but my vision has deteriorated. I cannot read books. I suffer a lot at night and don’t know what to do,” he said.
"I came here because these surgeries are free and are being conducted at no cost to the people,” said Another resident of Kunar, Sayed Mahmood.
"Such organizations should be supported, and they should be provided with facilities and suitable environments so that they can better serve the people of Afghanistan in their specialized fields,” Mohammad Ghaus, another Kunar resident, also emphasized.
According to health officials, earlier this year, some charitable organizations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Afghan Red Crescent Society, facilitated free eye treatments in Helmand, Herat, and several other provinces.
