Hamid Reza Ahmadi, Iran's Consul General in Mazar-e-Sharif, stated that Iran considers the establishment of just peace and sustainable stability in the region as a fundamental responsibility.
Speaking at a press conference in Mazar-e-Sharif ahead of the 22nd of Bahman (anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran), he emphasized that Iran has adopted a policy of maximum engagement to improve the livelihoods of the Afghan people.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the establishment of just and sustainable peace and stability throughout the region as a primary responsibility. Convergence, constructive engagement, regionalism, and strengthening relations with neighbors are among our top priorities in foreign policy,” Hamid Reza Ahmadi said.
Referring to the close ties between the two countries, the Consul General stated that Afghanistan holds an important place in Iran's foreign policy.
He mentioned that under the guidance of Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Islamic Republic has adopted a policy of maximum engagement to improve the economic and living conditions of Afghans.
He clarified, "Based on the guidance of the Supreme Leader, Iran has chosen a policy of maximum engagement to improve Afghanistan’s economic conditions. Over the past three and a half years, Iran has made the most efforts to support Afghanistan’s economy, with a notable example being the presence of over six million Afghan migrants in Iran, who enjoy benefits similar to Iranian citizens."
Regarding visa issuance and legal travel for Afghans to Iran, the Iranian diplomat stated that legal travel between the two countries is the best approach, while illegal migration can create challenges for both sides. The Iranian Consul General in Balkh emphasized, "We issue approximately a thousand visas for Afghans daily, and there are no restrictions in this regard. This policy has remained unchanged over the past year. I urge the media to inform people that legal entry into Iran is respected, whereas illegal entry comes with its own considerations."
The 22nd of Dalwa in the year 1357 (solar year) marked the fall of the Pahlavi regime and the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of Imam Khomeini.
