10 Healthcare Centers Completed in Nangarhar

Ten healthcare centers in Nangarhar province have been completed and are now operational.

Built at a cost of $460,000, these centers provide maternal, child, and nutrition services to 21,000 families.

"These ten family health centers have been established in six districts and will provide primary healthcare services for mothers and children. Currently, five people are working with us in these centers," stated Aminullah Sharif, head of Nangarhar Public Health.

Abdul Wali Haqqani, deputy minister for health services, emphasized: “These centers prioritize maternal and child health and ensure the necessary healthcare services for them."

Residents have urged the interim government to address additional challenges in these healthcare centers.

"Maternal and child mortality rates have decreased, but these centers lack laboratory services. This section needs to be activated, and the number of female doctors should be increased," said Khawar, a resident of Kuz Kunar district

"This health center is not enough for us, as people here are very poor and cannot afford to take patients to other districts or the city. We need continued support,” Nizam Gul, another resident of Kuz Kunar, added.

According to Nangarhar's Public Health Department, these healthcare centers have been established in Dur Baba, Nazian, Achin, Haska Mina, Kuz Kunar, and Khogyani districts. Plans are also in place to build healthcare centers in five more districts soon.
