Residents of remote areas in Parwan province report facing serious challenges in accessing proper healthcare services due to the lack of adequate medical centers.
In the Ghorband Dara area, part of the provincial capital, a small clinic operates out of a rented house.
Officials at the clinic say that all health services including patient consultations, medication distribution, vaccinations, and emergency care are being provided in a single rented room.
“Our center has no building. We have many visitors, but no waiting area or even enough space to sit. All services are provided in this one small room.” said Najibullah, the person in charge of the clinic.
“People come here from distant villages. If we had proper roads, patients could be brought to the center much faster,” stated Lal Shah, a doctor at the clinic.
Meanwhile, local officials in Parwan province state that under the directive of the Islamic Emirate’s leader, healthcare centers will be built in all districts of the province during the current solar year.
“Based on the compassion of the Amir al-Mu’minin (Leader of the Faithful), the establishment of a health center in every district of Afghanistan has been planned. God willing, this initiative will help resolve healthcare challenges in remote areas in a timely manner,” said Sayed Hekmatullah Shamim, the governor’s spokesperson.
Despite these assurances, residents of Parwan say they still must turn to private pharmacies for medications, as government-run centers continue to face drug shortages.
