Significant Increase in Domestic Tourists in Kunar

Local officials in Kunar province said that during the Eid al-Fitr holidays this year, nearly 300,000 domestic tourists visited various parts of the province.

According to the officials, the green areas, pleasant climate, recreational areas, availability of hotels, and basic facilities are the main factors attracting tourists to the region.

“In Kunar, rest areas, hotels, and recreational sites have been built by the private sector for tourists. When tourists come here and visit these beautiful areas, they share their experiences with others. Fortunately, Eid fell in the month of Hamal this year (solar year), which is a very delightful time weather-wise,” stated Munib Shakir Afghan, Head of tourism at the Kunar Department of Information and Culture

Meanwhile, some tourists visiting the province have urged the caretaker government to provide more facilities in tourist areas.

“Fortunately, Eid came during the spring this year—a time when flowers are blooming, and nature is green. We came with friends to various places and today chose the Goriga area in Dangam district for sightseeing,” said Qiyam Khayam, a tourist.

“We are celebrating Eid in a peaceful environment with family and friends. Dangam district is truly one of the most beautiful areas of Kunar,” said Wahdat Yar Badloon, another tourist.

“In this area, not even a single SIM card works! We wish to spend the night here because it’s so beautiful, but the lack of a telecommunications network worries us about our families,” said Mustafa, another tourist.

According to the Kunar Department of Information and Culture, around 250,000 citizens from across the country visited various parts of the province during last year's Eid al-Fitr holidays.

Local officials emphasize that by expanding tourism infrastructure, it is possible to attract more tourists and strengthen the local economy.
