Questions Over Taliban Attack On Police HQ Remain

The death toll in attack on the PD6 Police Headquarters has reached 22, including an army soldier and some high-ranking police force members of the headquarters. A further 120 people were wounded.

However, the question remains: How could the Taliban reach to the PD6 Police Headquarters and the army recruiting center which is near the HQ?

The attackers entered the area from Kabul’s Chahardehi region. There were many police check posts on their way to the police center.

The army recruiting center was one of their targets. The insurgents opened fire on army soldiers when they entered the establishment.

“They killed a lieutenant-colonel and an official, 11 soldiers were wounded,” Ainullah, an army soldier said. He described the details of the attack and the positions of the attackers.

Ainullah said the army forces gunned down two attackers few minutes after they entered the center. “We hit one of them here at the corner of this room and another outside this corridor,” Malang Shah, another army soldier said.

According to TOLOnews’ Wali Arian, shopkeepers and residents around the attack scene started repairing the damaged parts of their houses and shops on Thursday morning.

The army and police force members gunned down four attackers in the attack which took at least six hours to end.
